Research & Teaching

A central task of the Institute of African Studies is the promotion and interlinking of Africa-related research and teaching and their interdisciplinary and cross-faculty coordination. The focus on Africa at the University of Bayreuth has been successfully expanded and maintained since it was founded in 1975.

This profile is reflected in research and teaching both in the large number of research projects and programmes that have already been carried out and are still ongoing, the national and international cooperation networks, as well as in the range of courses related to Africa and the promotion of young scholars.
